Protecting vulnerable children
Every year thousands of children die from poor nutrition, lack of immunizations and access to basic health care facilities. Diseases like pneumonia, diarrhea, measles and malaria, and Neo-natal conditions that occur during or after childbirth are the biggest causes of child deaths in Pakistan which can be prevented. Improving children’s health is crucial to help them out of poverty and lead healthy lives. Ensuring children grow up healthy is one of our highest priorities.
Maternal & Neonatal Health
In rural areas in Pakistan children under five continue to lose their lives to preventable infectious diseases such as pneumonia, diarrhoea and malaria, and newborns are fail to survive their first few days. Older children face poor health long-term due to untreated illnesses such as diabetes and epilepsy. We work with health centres and clinics in rural communities to provide neonatal and pediatric care to children in far flung remote areas.
Community Health
Recruited from the communities we serve, community health workers are trained to provide basic educational material and messaging on common diseases for children. This enables them to go tent to tent in camps and door to door in urban areas and hard to reach villages in Pakistan to connect families to our primary health services. They also promote health awareness and encourage visits to available health care services among those living in risk prone communities.
Medical Care in Emergencies
Children affected by conflict and disaster, are less likely to survive and thrive in early childhood, and so do not reach their developmental potential due to poor health, malnutrition, and exposure to war or conflict, among other factors. We respond to emergencies and provide emergency medical care as well as psychosocial care to children and families.
Health & Nutrition
Support a child's healthcare
Lack of good nutrition and poor health issues are often the factor plunging families into poverty. Poverty, disasters and crisis make children more vulnerable to health issues. By improving health, you're helping children and families build a better future for themselves.
