Impressing Parents on the first day

 
Lisa's Top Ten List:

 

1. Be sure your room is ready, clean and organized – NO clutter!

 

2. Have classical music playing – preferably Bach!

 

3. Be sure the room smells great – think “baking” smells

 

4. Dress sensibly, but professionally

 

5. Make a welcome display with the names of every child on or

near the door

 

6. Have signs posted in each center explaining what children learn

when they work in that center

 

7. Have fun learning activities set up at the tables

 

8. Greet every parent and child cheerfully, and by name if possible

(study ahead of time or set up a names board)

 

9. Send home a “My First Day in Miss/Mr ____________’s Class” sheet at

the end of the day

 

10. Before the first day, send home a welcome note or postcard,

and ask parents to send in pictures for your family photo board
