Life Lessons Learned From Geese

As each bird flaps it’s wings it creates an “uplift” for the bird following.  By flying in the “v” formation
the whole flock increases it’s flying range by 71%.

Lesson: Teamwork helps everyone go further, and fly higher.

Whenever a goose falls out of formation, it suddenly feels the “drag” of trying to fly alone and quickly gets back into formation.

Lesson: If we have as much sense as a goose, we will stick with people who are headed where we want to go.

When the lead goose gets tired it rotates back into formation and another goose fills the point position.

Lesson: It pays to take turns doing the hard tasks and sharing leadership.

The geese in the rear honk to encourage those up front to keep up their speed.

Lesson: Make sure our honking from behind is encouraging – not something counterproductive.

When a goose falls out of formation, 2 geese drop with him and follow to help and protect him.  They stay with him until he is able to fly again or dies.  Then they launch out again, flying with another formation.

Lesson: If we have as much sense as geese, we’ll stand by each other like that always, because one day we'll be the one who falls behind.

So maybe being a silly goose is a good thing?
