The Ocean Affiliate of NAEYC is delighted to announce the Summer '08 schedule of classes.

Earning the Child Development Associate credential (CDA) is the only way to become eligible to be a group teacher in New Jersey without taking college courses.     In addition to the trainings held during our regular meetings, the Ocean Affiliate of NAEYC offers monthly classes on a variety of topics included in the CDA core   content areas.  Our goal is to offer enough training to help you meet the CDA requirement of 120 clock hours of training in 8 core content areas. We also offer   yearly meetings to evaluate your training records and education in preparation for the CDA application process.  We are committed to each of our member's   professional development,and hope you will take advantage of this exciting program designed just for you! Ask us about scholarships too!                                                        Please note: all classes meet DYFS training requirements for child care center staff

All of these classes are held at the Ocean Inc. Head Start center, located on the Ocean County College campus in Toms River, N.J.

Monday June 9th, 2008  6:30-9 - Moving Your Curriculum Outdoors      - Dress comfortably to try out more than a dozen different games and activities to help children explore math, science and            language concepts while enjoying active play outside. Lots of hands-on ideas to kick your Summer program up a notch!

Tuesday July 22nd, 2008  6:30-9: Movin' On Up - Getting Ahead in Your Career      -Do you know what YOU need to do to be able to move up in the early childhood field?  Do you know the difference between           CDA / CCP/ ECE / P3?  Do you know which one matches your career goals, and what the requirements are? Do you know about           the brand new NJ Infant Toddler Credential?  Do you know what is required to teach in an Abbot preschool, or a preschool           expansion progrem?  YOU WILL - after this class!  Join us -  and invest a little time in your future.

Wednesday August 13th, 2008   6:30-9 -  Building Connections     - This workshop is designed to give you dozens of strategies to help children build strong connections with you and their            classmates.  We'll share lots of ideas for games, crafts, and classroom setup that will support friendship, sharing and team            building - just in time for the new school year!

Classes are $10 for current NAEYC members, $20 for non-members & pre-registration through the mail is required. Walk in registrations are strictly on a space available basis and handouts may not be available.  We must have at least 6 students pre-registered or class will be cancelled.  Please make checks payable to Lisa Lockwood. We encourage you to become a NAEYC member and enjoy all the benefits- it's easy online- and you'll save money on these classes, plus we offer scholarships, and additional trainings at NAEYC meetings are free to members!
